Written consent to an adoption shall be executed and acknowledged before the Tribal Court. Consent shall not be accepted or acknowledged by the Tribal Court prior to ten (10) days after the birth of the child. An interpreter shall be provided if the person consenting to the adoption does not understand English. Consents of a child over the age of twelve (12) years shall be made orally either in open court or in chambers with only the judge and any other person(s) he or she deems necessary, and the child present.
