Continuances are disfavored and will only be granted when a party shows that fairness requires the continuance. When a continuance is granted, the Court must reassess whether there is probable cause to believe the petitioner is in immediate danger of domestic violence, violence, or some other significant physical, emotional, or financial harm occurring prior to a hearing on the petition, and based on its assessment extend a temporary order to the new hearing date, allow a temporary order to expire, or issue a temporary order in a case where one was not previously issued.
